We are back again with our look back at the origins of the Call Of Duty series, a series that our modded PS4 controllers, modded Xbox One controllers and modded PC controllers is tailor made for!

Call Of Duty: World At War 2008 PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS

By 2008, Call Of Duty was one of, if not the biggest annual gaming franchise. For this game, Treyarch would take the series back to the past with a much more gritty and realistic take on World War 2.

The story mode this time around was very hard hitting, starting off with a scene where you see your squad being tortured. In the campaign, you will play as three different characters in a story that is very well written, with excellent voice acting.

Being able to stand, crouch and lay down added a lot of strategy to multiplayer battles, especially as if you could hide, you could regenerate some health. There are hidden Death Cards in the campaign which will unlock cool cheats and features for the multiplayer mode which are a lot of fun.

As awesome as the single player campaign and the multiplayer is, Call Of Duty: World At War would introduce something that would become a staple of the series, Zombies! Zombies saw you just have to try and survive wave after wave of Nazi Zombies! It was a fantastic addition to the series and something many of us look forward to with each new COD release.

Call Of Duty: World At War is regarded by many as one of the best games in the series. It is a game that many COD fans are hoping there will be some kind of HD remaster in the near future.
